We are all aware of the digital revolution that is taking place, said the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Kostas Karamanlis, speaking to SKAI and the “Today” show, regarding the digital copies of identity cards and driving licenses presented this afternoon in the presence of the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

Mr. Karamanlis emphasized that the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure has signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Governance since 2019, when the one transceiver for all highways came into force.

“What we did in 2019 should have been done since 2014” noted the minister and added that in the coming years “we will be ready to be charged according to the kilometers we travel”.

Referring to today’s presentation, he said that today we are making another revolution together with him Kyriakos Pierrakakiswho has done a very good job.”

He explained that with the car wallet drivers will not need to carry their license and ID. “We will be able to have the option to display them from our mobile phone” he said and continued:

“This innovation, on the one hand, improves the daily life of citizens and reduces suffering, while at the same time addressing transparency problems.”

The two documents will be able to be stored inside the digital walletwhere the vaccination certificate was, and will immediately come into force.

Mr. Karamanlis assured that the state ensures the security of personal data.

For complaint Androulakis he said: “The digital state is one thing, the hacking attempt is another. I listen carefully to what Mr. Androulakis said. I understand there was an attempt to hack him with the Predator system. It exists in foreign secret services, I can’t tell you if it exists here.”

He continued by saying: “This takes us back to a time when the Karamanlis government was also being monitored. This story smells bad. Justice must investigate such a complaint.”

Referring to SYRIZA, he said that “they have a storm in their skulls” if they claim that the government is involved in such a case.

“We have two SYRIZAs, the one that exercises a serious and tough opposition and a SYRIZA that is happy about everything it remembers,” he said characteristically.

Greece is becoming an energy hub

Greece’s agreement with Egypt and Saudi Arabia is changing the energy map for many years and our country is turning into an energy hub, noted Mr. Karamanlis.

He stated that a great effort is being made to deliver in September the extension of the Metro from Nice to the Municipal Theater of Piraeus, while within the same month the works begin on the part of the Northern Road Axis of Crete that will be built as a public project.

He also noted that approximately 90% of the work on the Thessaloniki Metro has been completed.

The goal is to be ready by the end of 2023, he added, stressing that the Venizelos station will start this year in August.
