Air Tractors on alert for high fire risk today

Today there is a very high level 4 fire risk in Attica, Boeotia, southern and central Evia. Air Tractors and Canadair are currently on aerial patrol in these areas.

With these patrols, especially with them Air Tractors, the immediate attack of the fires is achieved so that the forces have time to limit them before they spread. The new aircraft secured for this year are flexible, quick to respond, with a long flight duration (up to 3.5 hours) and the ability to transport 3 tons of water. It is noted that the Air Tractors were on aerial patrol and immediately intervened:

• On July 5 in Porto Germenos (the fire was controlled in 5 hours) and the forest and the village were saved.
• On July 17 in Driopi Trizoina, the fire was controlled in 3 hours.
• On July 18 in the Industrial Zone of Koropi, the fire was immediately controlled.
• On July 19 in Penteli, they were flying at close range. Then when they stopped flying they couldn’t even attempt Canadair effectively (113km northerly wind).
• On July 20 in Veniza Megaron, on July 26 in Chaidari and Mandra Attica.

Total Tractors since the start of the firefight they have flown 1,097 hours patrol flights and firefighting operations and have made 2,454 water drops.

All this time they have not shown any damage or jamming. They are very fast in the take-off procedures, in sailing to the field and in taking water, which is why they are also the first to reach the fire. It is recalled that they carry 3.2 tons of water and foam. PZLs carry 2 tons and CL215s 4 tons.
