Death of a student in Sifnos: He was positive for the coronavirus

The news of the sudden death of a 23-year-old student from Lamia, who died while on vacation in Sifnos, has caused a shock.

The funeral of the 23-year-old Thanasis Zerva will take place at 6 pm on Thursday at the Holy Metropolitan Church of Eleftheria Square in Lamia.

The young man had gone on holiday with his friends at a campsite in Sifnos.

According to his report LamiaReport, the 23-year-old student was not feeling well since Tuesday morning. At noon, he did a self-test and came out positive for the corona virus, while another member of the group had symptoms, but the test for him was negative.

On Tuesday afternoon the group went to the beach. Thanasis had stayed on stage and came down a little later when he felt better. He sat at a safe distance from his friends, but a short time later he threw up and immediately passed out.

His friends called an ambulance and sought a private doctor at the campsite.

The ambulance took about 25 minutes to arrive at the scene, according to his information LamiaReport. Until the ambulance arrived, the doctor who was at the scene and his friends tried to revive him, but without success.

The 23-year-old student was picked up by the ambulance and taken to the Sifnos hospital. There the doctors received him with almost no pulse and for about 40 minutes they tried to revive him, unfortunately to no avail.

His devastated friends, who had followed the ambulance and waited anxiously outside the Sifnos Clinic, could not believe that from one moment to the next Thanasis had “gone”, so unexpectedly and so unfairly.

The body of the 23-year-old arrived late Wednesday afternoon at the port of Piraeus and on Thursday morning an autopsy will be performed at the Forensic Service of Piraeus, which will shed light on the cause of death of the deceased student.
