by

The 34-year-old prisoner for the robbery in Velvedo Kozani was arrested as the “archer of the Constitution”, after first escaping in 2019 from the rural prisons of Tiryns.

Today, the Appeals Council of Lamia rejected the release request of the hunger striker Yiannis Michailidis, who has been transferred from Malandrino prisons to the Lamia hospital and was requesting his conditional release.

The 34-year-old prisoner for the robbery in Velvedo Kozani was arrested as the “archer of the Constitution”, after first escaping in 2019 from the rural prisons of Tiryns. He has served 3/5 of the 20-year sentence for the robbery and 2/5 of the sentence for his escape, and the Amfissa Judicial Council to which he appealed had rejected his request. So he appealed to the Appeals Council of Lamia, which issued the specific decision.

On Wednesday, July 6, there was a rejection prosecutor’s proposal in response to the appeal of the hunger striker’s lawyer to the Lamia Appeals Council, a proposal with which the Lamia Appeals Council is now aligned.

Yiannis Michailidis is on the 67th day of his hunger strike and according to the latest opinion of the personal doctor who is attending him “his condition has reached an extremely dangerous point”.
