“The managers, not the engineers, make their fat salaries, an engineer at best will have a good salary, but the ‘golden boys’, who are the role models of the young, come from the fourth field, that’s why there is a very large moving to the fourth field” said Stratos Stratigakis.
The bases in theoretical studies were destroyed this year, the positive ones also recorded a drop, while in the fourth field the bases marked a significant increase, he pointed out to SKAI for the Panhellenic Games the educator and career advisor Stratos Stratigakis.
It is indicative that this year only 1/4 chose theoretical studies.
“The managers, not the engineers, make their fat salaries, an engineer at best will have a good salary, but the ‘golden boys’, who are the role models of the young, come from the fourth field, that’s why there is a very large moving to the fourth field” he underlined.
“In the first field, we had a very large drop in the number of students in many schools, because this year fewer children than any other year chose theoretical studies, only 18,500 children, a percentage of 25.5%, while twenty years ago this percentage was 42%. The lack of candidates destroyed the foundations”, he said characteristically.
“In the third field (medical schools – paramedical TEIs) we had an increase in low schools. In the fourth field, economy and information technology, we had an increase in many sections, because these attract the interest of children. Shifting is important, the children leave the theoretical, but also the positive direction, and move towards finance and IT” said Mr. Stratigakis.
“There was a drop in the high-ranking schools, but the Medical schools stayed at their height, they did not fall below 18,000 points, not even in Alexandroupolis, it was a surprise, I expected it to fall a little lower,” he noted.
Also, answering why the Priestly Schools were so high this year, Mr. Stratigakis explained that “few children succeeded, there were too many vacancies and only those who succeeded had done well”.
Mr. Stratigakis said that for the children who failed five roads are opened: The first is to try to retake the exams, the second path is with the 10% computer science, but there are not many chances, the third is to study at IEK or IIEK, the fourth is to go to college and the fifth is to study abroad. “We don’t take decisions in the heat of the moment, it takes calm – thinking” he underlined.
