Following the world premiere of the next generation Astra hatchback in September, Opel today unveiled the long-awaited station wagon version, the new Astra Sports Tourer. The new model will be available in two levels of plug-in hybrid drive, and it is the first electrified station wagon of the German company.
In addition to electric propulsion, the new Astra Sports Tourer will be available with petrol and diesel engines. Power ranges from 110 hp to 130 hp for petrol and diesel engines, while with plug-in hybrid sets, the total power reaches 225 hp. A six-speed transmission is available as standard with petrol and diesel units, while an eight-speed automatic transmission is available as an option with more powerful engines.
With dimensions of 4.64m in length, 1.86m in width and 1.48m in height, it offers ample space in the cabin. The luggage compartment offers over 608 liters of usable storage space with the backs of the rear seats in an upright position, and 1,634 liters when folded.
And this model brings the new Opel Vizor philosophy with the special lights, the hood and the new logo. But inside, too, huge progress is evident. The Pure Panel, with a digital human-machine interface, offers customers a clear, intuitive experience. Functions are controlled via a large touch screen, such as on a smartphone. Important settings such as air conditioning control are still selected directly via some switches. Also, the new generation of multimedia infotainment and connectivity systems can be connected wirelessly to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto via compatible phones, already available from the basic version.
