Osman: “We have to step up – Ataman was right with Virtus Bologna”

by

Him Ergin Ataman defended by Chedi Osmanwho in statements he made ahead of Panathinaikos AKTOR’s match against Maccabi Tel Aviv for the 7th matchday of the Euroleague, emphasized that the Turkish coach was right to react in this way in the match with Virtus Bolognaand not to instruct his players in a time-out.

At the same time, he also referred to the many injuries that plague the “greens”, noting how those who are available must step up.

What he said in detail:

On what they have to do after the defeat to Virtus and for tomorrow’s match against Maccabi:

“It was a difficult defeat. We have to play more dynamically in defense. Maccabi is a very good attacking team, scoring a lot of points, playing a lot one-on-one, so we have to stop that through our defense.”

For returning players:

“We have players who are injured like all teams, it’s normal because the season is long. The rest of us have to step up. All the teams in the league are very good, but we have to focus on tomorrow’s game.”

On how the players prepare for the “devil weeks”:

“We play a lot of games and it makes sense to want to rest our bodies after them and do what we can to pay attention, so what we have to do is stay fresh.

On Ataman and the time-out in Bologna:

“The coach knows that we always try. We know what he asks of us. In the Bologna game he was right because he was disappointed with our performance and the way we played. It wasn’t our best game either. Every time everyone tries for the best, tomorrow we will show that we are ready”
