An incredible incident that almost had unforeseen consequences occurred around 5 pm on Monday, August 1, 2022 at the Shell gas station, at the junction of the Ring Road and Stratou Avenue, in Veria.
According to the information of InVeria.gr, everything happened when a delivery truck stopped at the “Trigono” confectionery, a few meters above the gas station and, for unspecified reasons at the moment, did not “catch” the handbrake, resulting in the heavy vehicle to run rampant towards the gas station, overturning the pumps and causing a fire, both in the premises and in the delivery truck and a vehicle in the adjacent supermarket parking lot.
Fortunately, due to the special safety system, the fire did not spread to the tanks and according to the information so far, there were no injuries.
Police vehicles immediately rushed to the scene. Verias, the area was cordoned off for more than half an hour, the fire was extinguished and water was thrown as a precaution. Apparently the gas station was temporarily shut down.
