The RAS Railway Market Regulation and Control Unit receives a large number of passenger complaints regarding delays and cancellations of routes, which tend to become permanent.

In particular, according to the same announcement, Hellenic Train AE is summoned before the RAS Hearing Committee for violation of the provisions of article 28 (par. 5 of Law 3891/2010), as it did not proceed with the immediate provision of information and data requested by the Regulatory Authority Railways through the President of Mrs. Ioanna Tsiaparikou, in order to provide explanations for the reasons for canceled/delayed routes, and at the same time to announce an action plan with which to restore the orderly operation of the railway project.
The intervention of the president of RAS was carried out with the notification of a relevant document on July 21, 2022, in which it is underlined that the aforementioned requests to the Company are made at a time when the Rail Market Regulation and Control Unit of RAS receives a large number of passenger complaints regarding delays and cancellations , which even tend to become permanent.
However, Hellenic Train AE did not respond in any way to the Authority’s written request, as it did not provide any information both on the reasons for the delay and cancellation of the routes, and on the action plan based on which it would explain, when and how, it would normalize the railway project.
The Railway Regulatory Authority, as the National Body responsible for the correct implementation of Regulation 1371/2007 on the rights of passengers, considers that there can be no tolerance for any malfunction that affects the social good of the uninterrupted movement of citizens, while at the same time, it may to undermine the quality of the country’s railway transport project and consequently the national economy.
The hearing of Hellenic Train AE before the special Three-Member Hearing Committee of RAS will take place in the near future.
