According to an announcement by EL.AS, a 24-year-old man originally from Pakistan was arrested, while three more of his compatriots are accused of the same case, with the police having identified the details of one of them

The hostages of their traffickers were three refugees from Afghanistan, as it seems that they were being held illegally in an apartment in the area of ​​Demokratia Square, in the center of Thessaloniki, until they paid a ransom to be released.

The new incident of kidnapping and hostage-taking with the victims of traveling foreigners was revealed yesterday, when police officers of the Directorate of Foreigners of Thessaloniki, using information, carried out an investigation – in the presence of a judicial officer – in the specific apartment, where the three hostages were located and released.

According to an announcement by EL.AS, a 24-year-old man, originally from Pakistan, was arrested, who, as soon as he noticed the police, tried unsuccessfully to escape, climbing from the balcony to the roof of the apartment building in order to jump to adjacent roofs. Three more of his compatriots are accused of the same case, with the police having identified the details of one of them.

When examined, the victims reported to the police that they had entered Greek territory 6 days ago and that physical and psychological violence was used against them, in order for their families to send 2000 euros (for each) and to be released.
