Special mention is made of the wreck of Peristera which is the first underwater museum in Greece and the most important underwater ancient monument in the world
Alonissos and the first underwater museum of Greece have recently been “starring” in Japanese TV news programs and news bulletins.
Following a press visit recently organized with the help of the Municipality of Alonissos, Japan’s national broadcaster, NHK, highlighted Alonissos as the destination with different “faces” that can satisfy the demands and expectations of Japanese tourists.
In television shows, Alonissos is featured for its picturesque villages, blue-green waters, local cuisine, hospitable residents and enchanting nature.
Special mention is made of the wreck of Peristera, which is the first underwater museum in Greece and the most important underwater ancient monument in the world.
“We capitalize on our diving wealth and other unique elements such as the largest natural marine park in the Mediterranean and promote Alonissos to markets outside of Europe as well, such as Asia, Australia and America. Thanks to its international innovations, Alonissos is gradually becoming an international alternative destination. The island shows excellent occupancy for August with travelers from Greece and abroad, while the tourist season is expected to extend until the beginning of October“, states the Mayor of Alonissos, Petros Vafinis.
