Municipality of Athens: 2,200 new metal waste bins in the neighborhoods and the city center

With placement 2,200 new metal waste bins in all its municipal apartments of Athens the cleaning sector of the municipality is significantly strengthened.

According to the relevant announcement of the municipality, 1,663 have already been placed in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th and 7th Municipal Communities, while in the next few days the placement of approximately 450 bins in the 5th community will be completed. The new bins have special foot lever which allows citizens to deposit their waste easily, while enhanced with anti-graffiti materialso that they are protected from vandalism.

Also, in addition to the metal bins, the municipality of Athens continues to place where necessary in the neighborhoods, floor baskets, mixed waste bins (green)but also recycling (blue), “gradually forming a modern network that significantly facilitates the residents and visitors of the city to keep it clean”, as noted in the announcement.

In his statement, the mayor of Athens, Kostas Bakoyanniss, points out that his Municipal Authority focused “from the first moment in the culture of everyday life, which for us is a strategic compass. We have changed the philosophy of the municipality and the way we work in the center and the neighbourhoods. We said no to superficial and piecemeal cleaning, placing sweeping cleaning actions at the top of our daily agenda, but also the substantial renewal of urban equipment. Because Athens is our home, from end to end and its cleanliness is not a process, but a starting point to live better in it“, he said.
