Holidaymakers have been informed by the relevant authorities, as thousands of poisonous spider crabs have overwhelmed a tourist hot-spot in Cornwall, as the “Mirror” writes.

It comes just days after a snorkeler claims he was bitten by a shark and the Cornish coastline was inundated with jellyfish. Spider crabs have gathered in the shallow waters of St Ives in Cornwall to shed their shells before returning to the ocean.

Bathers at Porthgwidden Beach were not entirely deterred and some took the opportunity to swim over the crab bed to view the disturbing sight.

Crabs can usually be seen near shore in the summer and fall as they congregate for protection. Although it is not uncommon to see them in UK waters, mass gatherings like this are becoming more common in the summer due to rising sea temperatures.
