A program preventive dentistry for children of families supported by the Reception and Solidarity Center of the Municipality of Athens (K.Y.A.D.A.), is being launched by the municipality, ahead of the new school year.
The program, which lasts three weeks – from August 17 to September 9 – is implemented by the Social Service of KYADA. in collaboration with the Social Dentistry, in the context of Athens’ participation in the UNICEF program “Child-Friendly Cities”, with the aim of adapting the provided care services to the needs of children and adolescents.
Social Dentistry appointments will be available exclusively for children aged 6-14.
“Caring for children and improving their quality of life is at the heart of our social policy. This initiative, through the social dental office of K.Y.A.D.A. highlights our ongoing effort to support and empower the city’s vulnerable families. We will not allow anyone to be left behind.” emphasizes in his statement Mayor of Athens, Kostas Bakoyannis.
Promoting the message of prevention and promotion of oral health at young ages, the structure’s dentist will welcome children from financially vulnerable families served by KYADA, offering them free oral check-ups and dental work, such as fluoridation or preventive fillings;
After the examination and the necessary dental procedures, the parents will be informed about the children’s oral condition and the proposed actions to follow. At the same time, advice will be provided to children on brushing rules and habits that contribute to maintaining good oral health.
The Social Dentistry is housed in the main building of K.Y.A.D.A. (Piraeus 35) and provides dental services to vulnerable groups of the population, who, as they find it difficult to procure even basic goods, neglect their oral health. It offers a complete dental check-up and its mission is to prevent and treat the most common pathological conditions of the mouth.
The families registered in the programs of K.Y.A.D.A. they can contact the Social Service to close appointment on the phone: 210 5246516.
