According to the latest update of the Ministry of Shipping, in the afternoon a tanker with a Greek flag sailed into the sea area of ​​Kardamena, Kos, from where the 27 rescued migrants (all men) were picked up by a patrol boat of the Lthmenikos and transported safely to the port of Kardamena.

It is noted that the operation south of Rhodes began at dawn to rescue approximately 80 people who were on a boat in international waters and within the Greek area of ​​search and rescue responsibility. So far 27 people have been rescued, while according to the testimonies of the rescued the rest are missing.

He said that most of the rescued are Afghans, while among them there are Iraqis and Iranians, while according to information none of them was wearing a life jacket.

In fact, as they reported to the Greek authorities, they started their journey from Antalya, Turkey and were destined for Italy.
