Chania: 24-year-old victim of domestic violence was saved by her neighbor

Twenty-five months in prison for causing bodily harm, threatening and domestic violence was imposed on Thursday morning on a twenty-seven-year-old Albanian citizen, who was tried by the autoforo procedure.

The police officers arrested the young man on Wednesday night, at his home on Selinou Street, after neighbor’s complaintwho realized that the 24 years old the perpetrator’s wife was subjected to physical violence and even that her life was in danger.

Initially, the tenant had the courage to knock on the couple’s door. The 27-year-old, after the insistence of the courageous neighbor, began to threaten her as well.

The police were immediately informed, to follow arrest of the perpetrator to which the sensitized tenant of the apartment building filed a lawsuit for the threats she received, who did not hesitate to confront him and prevent the worst.

Since in the course of the preliminary investigation it was established that the couple resided illegally in Greece, the Court decided on the two-month detention of the 27-year-old, for whom the deportation procedure will be initiated, while the rest of the sentence was suspended. For her part, the 24-year-old has the right to request and receive a permit to stay in the country, but she herself appears to wish to return to her family in Albania.
