Over 23,000 traffic violations in one week

Most of the offenses involved illegal parking and speeding.

23,055 traffic violations were confirmed, from August 7 to 13, throughout Greece. In 104,069 traffic checks carried out, from August 7 to 13, 2022, throughout Greece, a total of 23,055 violations were confirmed, according to the data of the Ministry of Citizen Protection.

In detail, the violations confirmed by region are 2,585 in Attica, 3,002 in Crete, 2,190 in Central Macedonia, 2,456 in Thessaly, 2,042 in the South Aegean, 1,747 in Western Greece, 1,355 in Central Greece, 1,364 in the Peloponnese, 1,241 in Epirus, 1,218 in Thessaloniki, 1,361 in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, 1,248 in the Ionian Islands, 691 in the Northern Aegean and 507 in Western Macedonia.

In particular, the violations confirmed concern 5,288 for excessive speed, 7,196 for illegal parking, 1,365 for not using a protective helmet, 1,291 for driving without a driver’s license, 848 for not using a seat belt, 528 for K.T.E.O., 512 for driving while intoxicated, 410 uninsured vehicles, 276 for moving in the opposite direction of traffic, 231 for violation of a traffic light, 228 for using a mobile phone, 181 for irregular maneuvers, 156 for irregular overtaking, 112 for worn tires, 88 failure to maintain a safe distance .

As the Ministry of Citizen Protection points out, ELAS attaches particular importance to road safety issues and in this context the controls will continue with undiminished intensity, with the aim of reducing traffic accidents and accidents.
