Three arrests for migrant trafficking in Kythira

A total of 97 foreigners were detected in the Piso Gialos area of ​​Kapsali

Officers of the Port Authority of the island proceeded to arrest three people for the trafficking of 94 migrants who were detected yesterday in Kythira.

These are three foreigners aged 30, 29 and 17.

Specifically, the Kythera Port Authority was informed by the Kythera Town Police Department about the existence of a sufficient number of foreigners in the Piso Gialos area of ​​Kapsali.

Officials of the port police immediately went to the spot, where with the assistance of an echelon of the A.T. of Kythira, a total of ninety-seven (97) foreigners (15 women and 82 men) of various nationalities were spotted on the road network of the area, of which fifty-five (55) were minors. The above were transported to the port of Kapsali, while the existence of an I/F vessel on a rocky shore in the above sea area was established, which had been used as a means of transporting them.

No marine pollution has been detected since the stranding, while all the foreigners are in good health.

A preliminary investigation is being carried out by the Second Port Department of Kythira of the Neapolis Voion Port Authority with the assistance of officers of the Maritime Border Security and Protection Directorate (DAPTHAS) at an informational level, while the sailing vessel in question was seized and the three foreigners were arrested as alleged traffickers.
