The recent loss of a new mother with COVID-19 shocked and mobilized us. The latest developments in the COVID-19 pandemic are of great concern. In Greece we see pregnant women getting seriously ill every day. One in six patients with COVID-19 infection in the UK who needed lung bypass (ECM) between July and September 2021 were expectant mothers, according to data recently published by the British Health System.
Feeling that there is a lack of information on the necessity and safety of vaccination during pregnancy, the Hellenic Society for Family Planning, Contraception and Reproductive Health together with ELPIS Hospital decided to give hope and information to pregnant women not to give birth lost no other woman so unjustly.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of ELPIS Hospital, Assistant Professor of Pathology EKPA Mr. Panagiotis Halvatsiotis gave his personal line for the creation of the counseling LINE OF PREGNANCY FOR PREGNANT AND YOUNG WOMEN 2132039142, hours 10.00-18. Answers are given by obstetricians-gynecologists of the Hellenic Society of Family Planning, Contraception and Reproductive Health.
At the same time, the Hellenic Society for Family Planning, Contraception and Reproductive Health, the ELPIS Hospital and HOPEgenesis, under the auspices of the UNESCO Chair in Adolescent Health and Medicine of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, are organizing an online day, 19.00, on: “COVID-19, Pregnancy and Vaccines”, attikorama2021.gr, with the aim of informing the scientific community and the public by distinguished scientists about the complications of COVID-19 infection in expectant mothers and the benefits of vaccination.
The event is welcomed by the Rector of EKPA, Professor Mr. Athanasios-Meletios Dimopoulos and the Chairman of the Board of ELPIS Hospital, Assistant Professor of Pathology EKPA Mr. Panagiotis Halvatsiotis. At the end of the day there will be a discussion with answers to the questions that will have been sent online. The discussion will be moderated by journalist Vicky Flessa.
