The well-known singer Robert Williams has passed away.
The sad news was announced by Bessy Argyraki with her post on Instagram.
“Goodbye my love. You passed quietly in your sleep as you had been low-key and unobtrusive all your life. Condolences to his family and courage”, writes the singer.
From the early 1970s Robert Williams began his career as the guitarist and singer of the rock band Poll.
From 1974 he was also an active pop and rock singer. In 1976, he achieved great success with the song “Mila mou” from the album “Esy ki ego”.
In 1977 he represented Greece with Paschalis, Marianna Toli, and Bessy Argyraki at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song Solfège lesson taking fifth place.
In 1991, he contributed significantly to the TV series “The Shining” by Nikos Foskolos, for which he wrote the music and lyrics to several songs, most importantly the opening song “Mes si prösekhei mou”.
