Drugs buried under concrete blocks to avoid detection
After a thorough investigation by the Narcotics Prosecution Department of the Kalamata Security Directorate, a criminal organization whose members trafficked quantities of narcotics in areas of the Peloponnese was dismantled.
In order to dismantle the criminal organization, a large-scale police operation was carried out yesterday (27.8.2022) in the morning, by police officers of the Narcotics Prosecution of the Kalamata Security Sub-Directorate, in cooperation with the Crime Prevention and Suppression Teams (OPKE .) and Dicycle Police (DI.AS.) of Messinia and the assistance of the police drug detection dog of Messinia, where three (3) citizens, aged 22, 37 and 39 years, respectively, members of the criminal organization, were arrested.
A case file was filed against them, for setting up a criminal organization and violating drug legislation.
As for the timing of the dislocation, from a police investigation conducted by the Narcotics Prosecution Department of the Kalamata Security Sub-Directorate, using appropriate and combined evidence as well as the results of physical and technical methods, it emerged that the above had formed, in the last quarter, a criminal organization with the aim of trafficking in narcotic substances (mainly heroin), in the wider areas of the prefectures of Messinia, Arcadia, Laconia and Ilia, obtaining significant sums of money.
In particular, it was ascertained that the perpetrators were based in a local community of the Municipality of Kalamata, where they hid the narcotic substances buried in the ground and then trafficked them for a sum of money.
In the context of the operation, the aforementioned police officers placed under discreet surveillance disputed points of trafficking and concealment of narcotic substances, which the three (3) arrested persons were approaching, in order to hide the narcotic substances.
In a search at the point they were approaching, -2- quantities of heroin, with a total weight of -526- grams, were found carefully hidden, under concrete blocks, in a hole in the ground, which were confiscated.
In addition, in subsequent searches of their homes, -2- mobile phones were found and confiscated, as means of committing criminal acts.
Those arrested will be taken to the Criminal Prosecutor of Kalamata, while investigations continue by the Narcotics Prosecution Department of the Kalamata Security Sub-Directorate, in order to further investigate the scope of the organization’s criminal activity and the possible involvement of more people in it.
