The 70-year-old who shot at children in Alepochori is free on condition

by

The 70-year-old claimed that he believed they were thieves and, fearing for his life, fired to intimidate and not to kill.

Free on probation the 70-year-old, who opened fire with a shotgun against two children who had entered the yard of his house in Alepochori early last Friday, was released after his apology to the investigator.

In more detail, restrictive conditions were imposed on him, prohibiting him from approaching Alepochori, a ban on leaving the country and a mandatory appearance at the Police Department of his place of residence.

At the same time, he must pay a monetary guarantee of 10,000 euros.

During his plea, the accused serial killer said he was devastated by the turn of events, claiming he did not see who the people were who entered his yard and that he had never intended to kill anyone.

According to his claims he believed they were robbers or thieves and in fear of his life without being able to distinguish age or whether they were holding weapons, he shot to intimidate and not to kill.

The children, for their part, claimed in their pre-trial statements that they were playing the game “Truth or Dare” and thus found themselves in the yard of the 70-year-old.
