Envisioned as a “micro-space”, the project was designed by Talvitie in the spirit of progress and sustainability.
Into the world of architecture entered the Polestar team, taking a short break from its activities in the field of high-performance electric cars: it completed the treehouse KOJA – “hut” or “den” in Swedish – envisioned by Finnish conceptual designer Kristian Talvitie.
The treehouse was realized in the woods outside the Finnish village of Fiskars, as part of the ‘House by an Architect’ exhibition at the Fiskars Village Art & Design Biennale which ends this month.
Envisioned as a “micro-space”, the project was designed by Talvitie in the spirit of progress and sustainability.
The designer’s goal is to “redefine sustainable travel by reducing the need to travel in the first place” and bring visitors closer to nature.
Sustainable materials were used in the construction, including locally sourced wool and wood. The Polestar team has further interpreted the word ‘koja’; it uses it to define a minimalist building, complete with sustainable materials, that offers the possibility of an immersive experience of nature
“Most designers look at design from the user’s perspective,” commented Kristian Talvitie. “I also see things from the side of the environment. There should be a symbiosis of design and where we meet it,” he emphasized.
