Mitarakis on SKAI: All the children were saved in Evros – The opposition is speechless

The Minister of Immigration stressed that the pressure is very high at the country’s borders and assured that the country will not become a dead vine again.

The message that the country “will not become a wild vine again” was sent by the Minister of Immigration and Asylum Notis Mitarakis, speaking on SKAI TV and the show “Kalimera” with Giorgos Autias.

According to Mr. Mitarakis, although the pressure is very high both on the land and sea borders of Greece, it does not translate into flows, as the police, coast guard, armed forces are “doing their job” and this year our country has the second lowest flows of the decade.

We have two fronts: Turkey and the European Left

The minister stressed that the government is facing two fronts, on the one hand Turkey and the smugglers and on the other, the “front of the European left, which defends an open border policy, like in 2015 and they are trying with intense pressure towards our country to force us to open the borders, which will not happen”

“Every time there are incidents, we see the European left in the European Parliament, European Media, NGOs, trying to denounce Greece, because legally and constitutionally it guards its borders. What are they trying to achieve? A more relaxed policy than our country”, he said characteristically.

The fence will be reinforced

Mr. Mitarakis clarified that such a thing will not happen, that the fence on the Evros will be strengthened and the Greek authorities will remain active in the sea “with absolute respect for human life”.

All the children were saved in Evros – The opposition is speechless

Regarding the incident in Evros, he reiterated that the evidence shows that all the children who were on the island were rescued and accused SYRIZA and the opposition of being in “complete silence” since Tuesday when he presented the said evidence to the Parliament.
