by

According to the announcement, extensive vandalism and vandalism was observed in the Akrotiri school complex, both externally and internally.

Extensive acts of vandalism and vandalism have recently occurred in school complexes of the Municipality of Chania, a week before the start of the school year, as the Municipality reports in its announcement.

According to the announcement, in the school complex of Akrotiri, where the Akrotiri General High School, the EPA.L. Akrotiri, the Public IEK of Chania and the Special Vocational Education and Training Laboratory (EEEK), in the Ameria and Koumbe school complexes, extensive vandalism and vandalism were observed in the external and internal spaces.

As the announcement typically states, “Broken windows and doors, fires and uprooted electrical installations, even removal of thermal facades in schools where energy upgrades are carried out by the crews, is the picture faced by teachers and the crews of the Municipality of Chania in the last few days, a week before the students come to school.”

In his written statement, Mayor Panagiotis Simandirakis expresses his indignation at the vandalism, arguing that, “some people are consciously and purposefully trying to create a climate of fear in schools, destroying and looting everything in their path.” We are not going to allow anyone to destroy, at the same time that we are trying with concerted actions to upgrade the school environment.

We have already informed the competent authorities and the unconscionable, who knowingly and repeatedly destroy public property, will be held accountable to justice.”

For his part, the Deputy Mayor of Education Antonis Vardakis, after condemning the acts of vandalism, emphasizes that “we will be relentless in finding and punishing the perpetrators, who do not respect the work of our crews and services, nor the resources available for the educational community” .

The municipality, in order to prevent similar actions, has provided for the installation of night security in the school premises, the installation of closed-circuit recording and alarm systems and the perimeter lighting of the school complexes, while the legal procedures foreseen against those who caused the sabotage have been initiated .
