Peugeot offers almost the entire range of clean diesel engines, which are evolving to meet the strict regulations of the European Union. When several car manufacturers “withdraw” the diesel engines, the French firm invests in them, of course gaining a large market share, a fact that is confirmed by the high sales of Peugeot in our country.
As of September 2015, all Peugeot diesel cars registered in EU Member States They comply with Euro 6 emission standards. The purpose of Euro 6 emission standards is to make diesel cars cleaner.
Today, Peugeot models are being produced with the evolution of Euro 6.3 emission standards using AdBlue technology. AdBlue aims to significantly reduce emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) that are harmful to the environment and thus meet the strict emission limits set by European standards for the control of emissions of new vehicles sold in the European Union.
What is AdBlue?
AdBlue aqueous solution is a liquid solution consisting of 67.5% deionized water and 32.5% high purity urea. In combination with selective catalytic reduction technology, it converts 98% of nitrogen oxides into harmless nitrogen and water vapor. It is sprayed on the exhaust pipe, located before the selective SCR catalyst and after the engine. When heated in the exhaust pipe, AdBlue decomposes into ammonia (NH3) and carbon dioxide (CO2). When nitrogen oxides (NOx) react with ammonia in the catalyst, harmful NOx is converted to harmless nitrogen (N2) and water (H2O).
The system layout includes the AdBlue control module and injector on the exhaust pipe and the special catalytic nitrogen reduction filter. This achieves the complete exemption of Peugeot diesel engines from nitrogen oxide emissions, making them the cleanest diesel engines on the European market.
At the same time, low diesel fuel consumption ensures lower CO (carbon monoxide) emissions, offering additional anti-pollution protection to the environment.
Peugeot has diesel versions in almost the entire range of its models, including the 208, 2008, 3008, 5008, 508, Traveler and Rifter. It goes without saying that the long-awaited 308 will also be available with Peugeot BlueHDi engines.
The 208 is equipped with the 1.5 BlueHDi of 100 hp combined with a six-speed manual transmission. Also, in 2008 it is available with the 1,500 hp BlueHDi in two power versions, with 110 or 130 hp, with the most powerful being equipped exclusively with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The larger 3008 is equipped with the more powerful version of the 1.5 BlueHDi (130 hp), either manually or automatically. The 5008, which also has the possibility of a third row of seats, is offered with the same options that exist for the 3008, but also with the larger 2 liter BlueHDi that delivers 180 hp and is combined exclusively with an EAT8 automatic transmission.
