At the age 73 years old The journalist, Nikos Volonakis, passed away after a long battle with cancer. His funeral will take place tomorrow, Friday, at 15.30 from the Holy Church of Agios Gregorios of Palamas (Metropolis).
The Union of Editors of Macedonia – Thrace (ESHEM-TH) bids farewell with deep sadness to Nikos Volonakis, who was one of the personalities who marked the journalism in Northern Greece with their actions.
Born in Thessaloniki, he graduated from the School of Law of AUTH and did postgraduate studies in France with the subject of journalism. He worked at the Thessaloniki, Makedonia, To Vima and Ta Nea newspapers, while in 1982 he began his journalistic journey at ERT, which dominated his professional identity.
As stated in the relevant announcement, the participation of Nikos Volonakis in the activity of ESIEM-TH was multi-year and multi-faceted. He was a member of the Board of Directors, the Secondary Disciplinary Council, the Council of Honor and Ethics of ESIEM-TH and in recent years he has been an active member in the administration of the Educational Foundation of the Union.
