Response to a post by the murdered journalist’s widow Giorgos Karaivazwhich expresses strong complaints about the behavior of the Police and the Minister of Citizen Protection, as well as being informed by various rumors that the case has been filed, issued the Ministry of Citizen Protection, emphasizing that the investigation will continue until the guilty in Justice.
It is also underlined in a ministry announcement that the journalist’s widow can directly contact and meet the minister.
Specifically, in the announcement issued by the ministry, it states:
“It goes without saying that the case of investigating the murder of Giorgos Karaivaz will continue until the culprits are found and brought to justice. This case is managed by the competent officers of the Homicide Department of the General Police Directorate of Attica, who must inform the widow of Giorgos Karaivaz about the developments. Regardless, the widow of the murdered journalist can directly contact and meet the Minister of Citizen Protection at any time she wishes.”
It is noted that in her post on social media, the wife of Giorgos Karaivaz, Statha Alexandropoulos Karaivaz, mentions, among other things, that after 17 months since the murder of the journalist, no progress has been made in the case, while in addition she has not had any communication with the new head of the Homicide Department, (contrary to the behavior of the previous one), but not even the Minister of Citizen Protection has accepted to date to meet her, despite the fact that the Prime Minister himself promised her mother for such a meeting.
He also points out that “by no means will I accept silence, because by staying silent it’s like giving an alibi to all those who might think that George had other kinds of connections” and concluding the widow of George Karaivaz asks for everyone’s help “in order not to forget and leave the heinous crime as a common criminal law crime”.
