Filippidi trial: “No” of the court in Bibila – Ninou confrontation

The defense of Petros Filippidis received a negative response from the Mixed Jury Court in its request for a cross-examination of the president of SEH Spyros Bibila with the wife of the accused leader, Mr. Elpida Ninos.

The judges ruled by a majority of 5 to 2 that the request to cross-examine the two witnesses should not be granted. As the president announced during the delivery of the rejection of the request, the court ruled that the issues that, during the defense, must be raised simultaneously with Mr. Soother and to Mrs. Ninou, “they are not critical”.

At the same time, according to the judges, the wife of the accused actor has responded to the controversial issues and has denied them. “Everyone’s deposits are weighed and evaluated. We don’t need to go into cross-examination” concluded the president, closing the issue raised by the side of the accused.

Earlier, during the examination of the president of the actors by Ms. Kiki Pakirtzidou, who defends the defendant together with Mr. Dimitrakopoulos, there was great tension when the advocate questioned the credibility and impartiality of Mr. Bibila, citing an earlier publication in which the president of SEH reportedly stated that Petros Filippidis is rightly in prison. The witness was enraged by the position of the defense attorney and, shouting, challenged her to “see his credibility”.

Showing some lottery tickets he had in his pocket, Mr. Bibilas mentioned that last Friday the advocate invited him to a meeting and made him a table in Thessaloniki. “He ordered me food and sweets and in the end he also bought me two lottery tickets when I didn’t want to,” said Mr. Bibilas.

Ms. Pakirtzidou told the court that the meeting was about pointing out to the president of SEH that the presumption of innocence of the accused is being violated, a phrase that provoked the reaction of the witness, who threw the lottery tickets towards her and got off the stage. The president interrupted the process again, saying in a strong tone that “all this is happening because the journalists are here”.
