The strengthening of the accommodation allowance for students in the 50 Vocational Schools Apprenticeship of the Public Employment Service (PYPA) was announced by the head of the Service, Spyros Protopsaltis, in the context of the presentation of the framework of the Social Housing Strategy, called “My home!”, following the announcements of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, from the podium Thessaloniki International Fair (TEF).

Specifically, as he said, the housing benefit is doubled from 120 euros to 240 euros and the income criteria are expanded. At the same time, Mr. Protopsaltis clarified that this measure, which will start to be implemented from this school year, concerns 1,000 students.

Among other things, Mr. Protopsaltis referred extensively to DYPA’s real estate, which can be utilized and cited specific examples. “It is clear the need to utilize the real estate of DYPA in every appropriate way” said the commander, recalling that, for the first time, a record of the real estate of DYPA was made.

As he underlined, the goal is a modern housing policy.

Finally, Mr. Protopsaltis noted that the DYPA closed the pending cases of the OEK district and the settlements of Elefsina-Corfu have been completed, while the completion of the settlements with the workers’ housing in Grevena and Giannitsa is also progressing. At the same time, as he added, the vacant houses (124 houses), which currently exist, will be made available.
