The 88-year-old Dimitris Moudatsakis, who graduated from the history and archeology department of the University of Crete, was honored in the morning by the rector Giorgos Kontakis, in the rectory of the PK in Heraklion. During the ceremony, the chancellor offered the 88-year-old graduate, the emblem of the university and books from the university publications.

The rector of the University of Crete expressed his emotion and invited the students to see Mr. Moudatsakis as an example, in a direction that has as its center the effort for development that never ends.
Mr. Moudatsakis, as he said, moved from his village to Heraklion in 1945, having completed primary school. He learned the trade of printer and bookbinder and did not then manage to continue his studies at school.
“It was a dream come true for me. The University for me was a heavenly place” said Mr. Moudatsakis, who added that his cooperation with his fellow students was excellent.
