At TIF some unusual product packaging, boxes with the title “Camelait” and the explanation “full camel milk powder”.

The small commercial stand in the pavilion of United Arab Emirates in the 86th TIF, photographs of camels are adorned, images that seem like a normal choice of decoration since it is the most characteristic animal of the vast expanses of the Arabian desert. Except that the peculiar, in this particular case, exploitation of the famous animal will be perceived by the visitor from some unusual product packaging, boxes with the title “Camelait” and the explanation “full camel milk powder”.

With the planet already turning to milk production for many years from many different raw materials, the smiling Spanish Brand Manager Dairy & Juice of Al Ain Farms of the United Arab Emirates, Bernard Colbera explains to APE-MPE that the market for camel milk is huge. “It may be something that we are not used to seeing on the market shelves, but it is not a special product aimed at the few. We have about 3,000 camels just for the production of this milk and the demand is increasing year by year.” explains Mr. Kolbera who describes a new would-be suitor in the international milk market.

“We already have a presence in many parts of the world, not so much in Europe where you will find camel milk in 3 or 4 markets, but in other populations. Especially in Asia this milk is in huge demand as the populations there show a higher percentage of intolerance to lactose. Nutritionists estimate that up to 65% to 70% of the world’s population has this particular sensitivity,” says Mr. Kolbera and emphasizes that the possibilities of milk production are not as limited as one might imagine when thinking about this particular animal.

“We do not have limited production targets. We are here with our eyes on the Greek market and also on Europe, which we expect will be interested, but we have set our sights on China as well. The dimensions are different there,” notes the specialized manager who was asked how much ready may be in the United Arab Emirates for an enhanced commercial interest he replies that the plans for camel milk and its ‘exit’ from the country’s borders are ambitious.

“We have no problem with the quantities and we foresee that we can cover a commercial success. Consider that even today only the 3,000 camels that we already have, we use them at about half of their production capacity”, concludes the Spanish Brand Manager specialist in ‘exotic’ dairy products. The camel milk specialist even states that he is excited by the unexpected interest of the visitors of the 86th TIF for this Arabic product. Camel milk is rich in calcium and protein.
