“The incentives will be applied with the bonuses we have, while the disincentives of increased participation will be applied only where there is a full sufficiency of doctors” noted Mr. Pleuris.
It is noted that the system of electronic appointments for the personal doctor is being put into operation from October 1.
“We are approaching 3.5 million citizens registered with the personal doctor, while there are 3,300 doctors. There is participation of private doctors, it has reached 30%. 4,000 private doctors can enter the system, 1,200 doctors have entered,” he stressed.
“Next week we go to the second phase and open the specialties. Pathological specialties, cardiologists, pulmonologists have the possibility to enter the personal doctor too” said the Minister of Health.
Mr. Pleuris stated that it is still difficult to find a doctor in Athens, as there are still 500,000 vacancies, while there are also vacancies in some parts of the islands. “There is no question of applying sanctions in these areas” he clarified. “Doctors will continuously enter the system, the increase in participation will not be implemented until there is a sufficient number of doctors at all points” clarified the Minister of Health.
Fines
Thanos Pleuris also announced the abolition of the AADE fine for the unvaccinated over 60, saying there is no reason for them to exist anymore.
“We are looking at the issue of fines as a whole… Certainly for those who have been vaccinated they will cancel the fines. The fines were an institution that succeeded, and there is no reason for it to exist anymore, we will look at the issue of fines as a whole” said the Minister of Health.
Physician assistants
The Minister of Health also pledged that he would renew the contracts of all assistant doctors, while they will also have an increased number of points in order to claim permanent positions.
