Searches are underway in the sea area northeast of Leros, to locate any missing migrants who were on an inflatable boat
Ninety-two refugees, among them, 30 small children, most of whom are around three years old, were transferred to the port of Kalamata, after a rescue operation from the “sapiokarabo”, in which they were aboard, southwest of Pylos.
At the moment they are being hosted in the warehouses of the Port, where the Coast Guard and the Municipality of Kalamata are taking care of the necessities, as there are very young children, who are suffering from the journey.
Investigations are underway in the marine area northeast of Leros, to locate any missing migrants who were on board an inflatable boat, which according to information was destroyed while approaching the beach of the island. According to information, 49 people have been identified and another 6 are being sought.
The searches for the identification of the missing migrants are carried out under the coordination of the Unified Search and Rescue Coordination Center of the Ministry of Shipping.
