The journalist breathed his last yesterday at the age of 58 Thodoris Psalidopoulos.

For the “Voice of Greece” it is a great loss, as reported by ERT. Thodoris Psalidopoulos was particularly loved by all his colleagues, who treated them with courtesy and respect. He was an excellent journalist, cultivated, with ethics and objectivity, virtues that ranked him among his elite colleagues. A worthy man with social sensibilities, with a great contribution to society, with a broad spirit and a distinct sense of humor.

He worked as a journalist in “Voice of Greece” where every day, from 10 to 12 in the morning, he informed the Greeks everywhere about what is happening in the homeland but also about the actions, problems and dreams of the Greeks of the Diaspora, while he also collaborated with the First Program of the Hellenic Radio.

Thodoris Psalidopoulos was born in Athens in 1964, in a family of Asia Minor origin. He studied political science at Panteion University. He was a member of the KKE. Since 1992 he has been a member of the Coalition of the Left and Progress, active in the Department of International Relations and Foreign Policy. In 1993, he was a candidate for SYN parliament in the 2nd District of Athens.

Son of the former Mayor Giorgos Psalidopoulos, he got to know the course of the Municipality of Kallithea up close and from his youth. In 1984, he was elected President of the Neighborhood Council in the area of ​​Harokopou – Lofou Sicilia, during the first implementation of the institution. Municipal Councilor was elected in the municipal elections of 1998, 2002, 2006 and 2010 with the combination “Cooperation for Kallithea”. Deputy Mayor of Kallithea (1999 – 2002 and 2004 – 2014), he was at times responsible for the Directorates of Technical Services and Culture, Education & Youth, the Department of Planning & Planning, the Offices of Transparency & Administrative Assistance and Communication, Public & International Relations, as well as and President of the Municipal Education Committee and the Municipal Consultation Committee.

He was a member of the International Relations and Culture Committees of the Local Union of Municipalities and Communities of the Prefecture of Attica and the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece.

During his studies he worked in the former Hellenic Soviet Union, where he was a member of the General Council and coordinator of the Youth Committee and the Press Office.

In 1996, he served as deputy – assistant to the Special Ombudsman of the European Union in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, ambassador e.t. Mr. Kostas Zepou.

Th. Psalidopoulos was a founding member of the Hellenic-Russian Association (2000), of which he has served as Special and General Secretary during the presidency of Evangelos Giannopoulos, Gerasimos Arsenis and the ambassador e.t. Mr. Kyriakou Rodousakis.

Since 2015, he has been the President of the Greek-Russian Association.

He was awarded the Medal of International Relations of the Municipality of Moscow (2005) for his contribution to the installation in Kallithea of ​​the Monument to the Soviet Fighters Fallen for the Freedom and Independence of Greece (1941 – 1944), as well as (dis) with the Medal of Friendship of the Center for International Cultural and Educational Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation for his general contribution to the promotion of Greek-Russian relations.

He was also the author of the book “Kallithea, Pages of History and Politics” (1997), while in 2002 his collection of texts was published under the title “Texts for the city and culture”.

In his own translation from the Russian language, the memoirs of Georgy Shakhnazarov, Mikhail Gorbachev’s collaborator, “The Price of Freedom”, as well as the collection of COMINTER documents on the Balkans, were released in Greece by “Hellenic Letters” publications. during the Second World War (published by the Russian Academy of Sciences), both edited by Grigoris Farakos.

He was married to lawyer Christianna Antipatis and father of George.

He will always be a beacon in the “VOICE OF GREECE” for his ethics and his kindness.
