Aristides Adamopoulos, former vice-president of the Hellenic Sailing Federation, has died

He passed away at dawn o Aristides Adamopoulosformer vice-president of the Hellenic Sailing Federation.

According to information from irafina.gr, he ended up in a private hospital, where he was being treated for the last few days as it was known that he had been fighting cancer for the last few years.

He was one of the oldest players in the Hellenic Sailing Federation, while he was a member of the Hellenic Olympic Committee.

“Telis Adamopoulos, the Vice President – Head of the Sports Office and President of Rafina Alkyon’s Naval Club, passed away today. His funeral will be held on Monday, September 26 at 16:00 at the Holy Church of Agios Christophers in Pikermi. The Hellenic Sailing Federation expresses its deepest condolences to his family”, the EOI statement states.

It is noted that the deceased was in the spotlight, after Sofia Bekatorou’s complaint in January 2021 for sexual abuse in 1998.
He submitted his resignation shortly after and it was accepted by the Federation.
