The 40-year-old mountaineer originally from Slovakia, according to information broadcast by Voria.gr, succumbed to his injuries and was taken unconscious by an ambulance crew to the Katerinis hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
It is recalled that the fire department was informed earlier today by a Greek climber about the fall and injury of the 40-year-old Slovak climber at the “Luki” position of Olympus.
The 47-year-old Greek climber, who injured his leg yesterday afternoon, is also being treated at the Katerinis hospital. The 47-year-old was rescued by two ladders with eight firefighters from Litochoro Pieria and the 2nd EMAK and was picked up by a Super Puma helicopter and then handed over to an ambulance crew.
The state of health of the 47-year-old does not inspire concern.
