Opinion – Full Glass: Soma launches beer with panettone and promotes a fair with handcrafted products

by

It’s already Christmas at Soma Cervejaria. Or, at least, it already has Panettone, and shaped like a beer. To celebrate the end of the year, Moema’s brewpub launches the seasonal DubbelTone, a Belgian dubbel made especially for the occasion that includes a generous amount of Panettone in the formula.

Amber in color and slightly cloudy, the beer has 6.2% alcohol content and low bitterness, just 20 IBU (scale up to 120; Indian pale ales, for example, are around 50 IBU).

“It was really fun to make this beer. I was happy with the result. The fruity part had a perfect balance with the characteristics of dubbel”, says Tarsis Patini, master brewer at Soma.

The Christmas style, already hooked to the faucets, is not the only new feature of the week. This Saturday (11), the space promotes the third edition of Soma Feira Artesanal, which highlights suggestions from small producers, such as bread, sausages, sweets, Panettone, cheese, cachaça and even cosmetics.

Between 12:00 and 19:00, anyone who buys any of the products at the brewpub is still awarded a half pint of American lager or hop lager — the promotion is not cumulative, so beware of the excitement.

With 15 taps, the beautiful brewpub in Moema was born in the middle of a pandemic, inaugurated in September 2020. In addition to the house’s fixed styles, such as hop lager, schwarzbier, american pale ale and american sour, they can also appear seasonal.
