Fate wanted the unfortunate couple from Amaliada to be together in life, together in death, who lost their lives on Tuesday morning in the traffic accident that happened on the national road Patras – Pyrgos, at the height of Tsoukaleikos.
It was a tragic irony that the driver of the lorry that was involved and who is being treated for injuries at the Agios Andreas hospital in Patras, also comes from Amaliada.
Both the unlucky couple, who lost their lives, as well as the injured truck driver, are quite well-known in the city of Amaliada, as the former ran a busy cafe near the town hall, while the truck driver, for years freelancer active in the field of transport.
Once again the national highway was painted with blood, with the victims being 54-year-old Theofilos Karletsis and his wife, 43-year-old Eleni Tsakoulis, while the driver of the delivery truck, which, according to sources, was transporting raisins to Aigios, is being treated for injuries.
According to the same sources, the accident happened on the national road of Patras – Pyrgos, at the height of Tsoukaleiki, when the two vehicles collided violently.
The Patras Traffic Police, EKAV ambulances and the Fire Service led by the commander of the Prefecture of Achaia, Vassilis Soldatos, immediately arrived at the scene, while for some time it was necessary to close the national road at the height of the accident as the large lorry had cut off traffic at the scene.
Tragic game
The news of the death of the couple from Amaliada, fell like a thunderbolt, as both were well known in the area. The tragic game of fate, however, also unfolded for the driver of the lorry who, carrying out his daily route, could not imagine that two of his fellow citizens, whom he knew, would be riding in the IX passenger car.
The unimaginable tragedy has shocked the whole of Ilia, with acquaintances and friends of the couple unable to believe his unjust loss while the exact causes that caused the accident are being investigated by the relevant Traffic Service of Patras.

According to information from the Patris, the couple from Amaliada, both biowrestlers, had just recently opened the Fuente cafe in the city, located a few meters from the town hall of Ilida. Both were loved and always together, they had three wonderful children and lived their family with dignity. People dear to society, that no one can believe their unjust flight.
