EL.AS made two other arrests. in the area of Preveza regarding the case of the dismantling of the three gangs that were operating in Attica and had turned the student residence at the Polytechnic University in Zografou into a headquarters for illegal activities.
They are two citizens, a man and a woman, aged 32 and 27, respectively, who were identified as members of one of the criminal organizations that operated with headquarters and base at the Polytechnic University of Zografou, which committed armed robberies in shops and vehicle thefts, in Attica, Lamia, Corinth and Nafpaktos.
According to EL.AS officers, they were arrested in a hotel room where they were staying, while as it emerged from the investigation, their participation in 3 cases of armed robbery and one attempted robbery at shops, as well as 2 cases of vehicle theft, was identified.
The members of the gang, at least since July 2022, were active in committing armed robberies in stores, while also stealing vehicles which they used as a means of transit and escape from the robbery sites.
In searches carried out in the room where they were arrested, 1 submachine gun, 2 magazines, 50 cartridges, 535 euros, a wristwatch, clothing and shoes used in robberies, a car and 3 mobile phones were found and confiscated.
They are included in the case file filed against them two more people who are incarcerated in Detention Shops.
Those arrested, with the case filed against them, are taken to the competent prosecuting authority.
34 of the 52 defendants were arrested
Now the members of the gangs that have been arrested are 34 out of 52 in total accused. In the operation that took place on Tuesday (27/9), 32 members of the gangs were arrested, including the leaders and a probationary police officer – who was giving them information in relation to police operations -, while their participation in the commission of at least 29 robberies was identified. as well as in a number of drug trafficking transactions, specifically cocaine, heroin, hydroponic cannabis, having the student residences as their headquarters and starting point.
The investigation into the case is continuing to uncover the full extent of the criminal organizations’ activity, while searches are underway to trace the 18 uncaptured members of the gangs.
It is recalled that for at least 3 years, the student residence of the Polytechnic University in Zografou had been turned into a base for violent criminals. According to the same sources, they had even placed armed people in the premises of the Polytechnic University who threatened with pistols those who judged them to be suspects by performing face control, threw the students out of the rooms, terrorized the janitors, sold weapons and ammunition even inside the Polytechnic University, while they were committing robberies and dealing drugs inside the student residence.
The police arrested 9 members of the first criminal group, who were responsible for 80 cases of drug trafficking. The second gang, which had 24 members, had carried out at least 27 armed robberies and two thefts – in which the 2 people arrested in Preveza were allegedly involved -, while the third gang, which had 3 robberies and 28 drug cases to its credit , he even traded arms inside the Polytechnioupoli.
The connecting link of all three gangs was the 30-year-old man of Albanian origin who attacked the 35-year-old non-policewoman with a screwdriver during yesterday’s police operation at the student residence.

These were some of the code words and special dialect used by gang members when referring to the narcotics they were dealing with and the police.
What was found in the searches of houses and student residences
In the context of research carried out, in homes, shops and storage areas in total found and seized:
- 4 cars,
- 2 pistols,
- 4 magazines,
- 67 cartridges of various calibers,
- collapsible metal gloves and knives,
- complete equipment from 2 equipped laboratories for the production of cannabis of hydroponic origin,
- 2,770.28 grams of raw cannabis,
- 218.77 grams of processed hemp (chocolate),
- 42.27 grams of cocaine,
- 7,515 euros and
- equipment for processing – preparation of processed hemp (press)
In surveys conducted both in the area of the student residences as well as in the houses found and seized:
- Carbine,
- air gun,
- folding glop and folding knife,
- iron fist-knife,
- iron fist,
- 20 cartridges,
- bulletproof,
- high accuracy weight scale,
- nylon packaging containing an unknown narcotic substance,
- balaclava and
- two graters and gloves.
