Have you ever seen a car counteract gravity, accelerate from a standstill while a chandelier falls, differentiate between identical twin people, or put them together with a rocket? Now, in a new series of videos prepared by Ford, the new, all-electric Mustang Mach-E addresses all of these challenges. And, in fact, with absolute success!
By putting the electric Mustang Mach-E to the test, Ford is trying to dispel the myths and misconceptions that customers may have about electric vehicles.
Designed from the ground up to change perceptions of what an electric car could and should be, the all-new Mustang Mach-E is the perfect vehicle to star in. Each video highlights not only one of the key features or technologies of the Mustang Mach-E, but also causes, like the vehicle itself, common misconceptions about electric vehicles in terms of autonomy and performance.
The Mustang Mach-E is proudly adorned with the famous “Mustang” brand and is the first electric vehicle to bear this name as well as a practical behavior that proves worthy of its tradition. With the first vehicles arriving directly in Europe, the following videos mark the start of a new Ford campaign that is coming to boost excitement as the electric model makes its mark on the old continent.
The four videos that will be released in Europe include the following:
•   Mustang Mach-E v. Gravity: The torque of the electric Mustang Mach-E is huge. But is it enough to challenge the laws of gravity? See how the performance of Ford electric pony manages against a falling chandelier!
•   Mustang Mach-E v. Rocket Science: The autonomy of the electric Mustang Mach-E is impressive. But what can “impressive autonomy” look like? A 3.5-meter missile helps visualize the estimated 610km range in the WLTP * protocol of the new Mustang Mach-E in the extender-range version and rear-wheel drive.
•   Mustang Mach-E v. Pit Crew: Over-the-air update capabilities allow the electric Mustang Mach-E to be upgraded from almost anywhere. But can these updates compete with a pit crew on the platform of a moving truck? There is only one way to find out!
•   Mustang Mach-E v. DNA: The electric Mustang Mach-E is able to learn behaviors and adapt to the preferences of individual drivers. But is it smart enough to tell the difference between identical drivers? See what happens when the personalized technology in the new Mustang Mach-E has to deal with two different people who in the human eye imagine themselves.
It is worth knowing
Searches comparing cars using the word “against” have increased – especially in the case of electric vehicles – by 64% in the previous year **. This set the perfect time for the new Mustang Mach-E to face a series of challenges that attempt to dispel the misconceptions that people may have about electric vehicles.
The series of videos above was created in the US with the shooting taking place largely at the same location used in 2019 for the movie “Ford v Ferrari”, which told the story of another challenge that Ford vehicles have overcome in the past.
Statements
“The arrival and release of the Mustang Mach-E is an exciting moment for the company but also a testament to the way Ford brings tomorrow! “This video series aims to demonstrate what Mach-E can do and dispel any prejudices that people have about electric vehicles,” said Peter Zillig, director, Brand & Marketing Communications, Ford of Europe.
* Declared fuel / energy consumption, CO2 emissions and autonomy are determined in accordance with the technical requirements and specifications of European Regulations (ER) 715/2007 and (EU) 2017/1151 as last amended. The standard test procedures used allow comparisons between different vehicle types and different manufacturers.
