“The immigrants were not in Greek territory, but in Turkish territory on the island of Kissari. Therefore, no Greek group would be able to intervene in foreign territory,” the statement said, regarding the incident last August.

The answer given by the parliamentary audit department of the Ministry of National Defense regarding a question and request for submission of records by MPs of the official opposition on the subject of “Sovereignty in islet to Evro“, is completely identical to the response of the Ministry of Citizen Protection on September 14.

This is emphasized in a statement by the Ministry of National Defense.

According to the coordinates provided by the tripartite contact center Captain Andreevo and confirmed by the Army Geographical Service, the migrants were located outside the Greek Statereports the Ministry of National Defense.

“The above applies in its entirety. The immigrants were not in Greek territory, but in Turkish territory on the island of Kissari» is added to the announcement.

“Therefore, no Greek group could intervene on foreign soil. The Turkish side was immediately notified to take the necessary actions on its territory. As soon as they arrived in Greek territory, the immigrants were rounded up and received the appropriate treatment. A lot of attention and seriousness is needed from everyone in these sensitive national matters” concludes the announcement of the Ministry of National Defense.

It is recalled that last August an information (notam) was sent by the Turks to Captain Andreevo, with which they asked the Greeks to carry out a search and rescue operation for 400 immigrants at coordinates that corresponded to an island within the Greek borders.

However, the Geographical Service of the Army, as well as the Land Registry, clearly stated that the mark left by the immigrants was outside the Greek territory.
