The coastal ships remain moored in the ports of the whole country for 48 hours, from today at 00:01 on Friday, December 10, 2021, as the Panhellenic Maritime Federation carries out a new 48-hour nationwide strike in all categories of ships, demanding salary increases in the Collective Bargaining Agreements for the years 2020 and 2021, but also solving the problems of the industry.
According to the announcement of PNO, the strike that started at 00:01 in the early hours of Friday, December 10, 2021, ends at 24:00 tomorrow at midnight on Saturday, December 11, 2021, with the prospect of further escalation.
The Panhellenic Association of Lifeboat Crews also participates in the mobilization.
“From 2019, the seafarers not only did not receive a 1 euro increase but thanks to their hard work, and without being paid for months many times, with reduced and incomplete compositions, with multiple hours of employment than provided by law, they managed to keep “shipping companies despite the additional difficulties of the COVID-19 pandemic, in order for transport to continue smoothly,” the seafarers’ union said in a statement, referring to “continued obstruction of the employer side to provide substantial salary increases.”
The management of PNO requests salary increases in the Collective Agreements for the years 2020 and 2021, but also the solution of problems of the sector while requesting the understanding and full support of both the passenger public and all employees.
