Golden Dawn Trial: Roupakias did not wear handcuffs at the Department, he claimed to be a passerby, Fyssa’s friend testified

by

The witness testified about what happened in Amfiali on the night of September 17, 2013, as soon as the football match between Olympiakos and Paris Saint-Germain ended

“When they took us to the Department, we were handcuffed, Roupakias was not. He was sitting cool and busy with his cell phone. He told us ‘I don’t think you think I’m one of them, I was a passer-by’. When we learned that Pavlos was stabbed and died, Roupakias stood up and shouted to the policemen, ‘take me from here, because they will kill me’,” testified the musician’s friend, Pavlos Seirlis.

The witness testified about what happened in Amfiali on the night of September 17, 2013, just after the football match between Olympiakos and Paris Saint-Germain.

As he stated in court, he believes that the attack they received from the Chrysaugit group “was organized”, was “targeted at Pavlos Fyssas” and that what happened was given an “order from above”.

Specifically, in response to the president’s question if he believes there was an order for what was done, Mr. Searlis said: “I believe that none of them would have made the decision to do this alone. I suspect that Paul was the target.”

The witness described how the events unfolded from the moment his group, after consultation with the musician, left the cafeteria where he was and went and sat with Fyssa’s group at Koralli, which had space, during the second half of the football match . There, as he noted, were three defendants, who appeared to have “intense mobility with messages on mobile phones”.

Pavlos Fyssa’s friend spoke about the sequence of events that unfolded at the end of the match, when, coming out of Koralli, they found that there were some people gathered.

“At that moment a small gentleman appeared who acted as mediator. He was coming to us, telling us ‘guys go away’. We made the decision to move towards Panagi Tsaldari, go to the kiosk to get some beers and wait for them to leave to get the cars. Suddenly a vehicle stops in front of us and asks us ‘where is Kefallinia?’ Paul says to him ‘here you are brother'”, the witness reported.

“I believe that he stopped seeing Paul, not because he knew him, they had no precedents, but because he wanted to measure him. Pavlos was a very strong child,” he added.

As Pavlos Seirlis said, when the tension created by the Chrysaugites escalated and they started chasing them, he and three others hid in the stilted apartment building where they tried to alert the Immediate Action. “During the time that we were hidden, in the pilothouse of an apartment building, the cars of the Chrysaugits continued and they were looking for us and calling us”, he emphasized and noted that the attacks were in waves, while he was hit with a helmet by the accused Anadiotis, who was on a motorcycle.

“As a result… Pavlos found himself behind. They trapped him, they managed to trap him…” he pointed out.

The witness, as he mentioned, saw from afar the car of Roupakias entering the scene upside down and the driver getting out, but he had no visibility to see the place where the perpetrator of the murder went on foot.

During the examination of Mr. Searlis by his lawyer Giorgos Roupakias, the witness became irritated by the questions and shouted at the lawyer.

Witness: He’s a self-confessed murderer and you’re trying to frame him? (clean)

Defense Counsel: I want to see your credibility.

Witness: After ten years you consider me unreliable and still defend Roupakias? Aren’t you ashamed?

After Mr. Searlis has completed his testimony, the proceedings are expected to continue with the testimony of the other two witnesses called by the court.

DIAS police officer Giorgos Rotas and his friend Pavlos Fyssas who witnessed the murder of the musician.
