Prosecution for the rape of a female actress brought by the Prosecutor’s Office against a well-known director – What does the defendant’s lawyer answer

Criminal prosecution for rape allegedly committed in 2010 was brought against him by the Prosecutor’s Office director Kostas Kostopoulos after investigating a lawsuit filed against him by a female actress.

The director had been called to explain by the prosecutor last summer and had denied what the actress attributed to him and had filed a lawsuit against her.

The accused director’s counsel, Nikos Vitoroswith his statement states: “Kostas Kostopoulos, from the first moment, appeared at the First Instance Prosecutor’s Office and, with his application, requested the fastest possible investigation of the lawsuit filed against him. At the same time, he filed a lawsuit against the plaintiff for false accusation and defamation. Already, important people of theater, television and culture, who have worked with Mr. Kostopoulos, have rushed to testify in his favor.

The conduct of the regular interrogation will highlight all the lies, gaps and unbridgeable contradictions, as already pointed out by the relevant prosecutor’s order, the questions of which were never answered by the plaintiff. It goes without saying that for our part we will not release any evidence from the case. We will continue to respect the process, separating the actual administration of justice from its exploitation through opportunistic publicity.”

The actress complains that the director raped her in his car, in early 2010, when, after they had gone out for dinner, he had suggested that they continue their night at a club where they were mutual acquaintances. According to the complainant, the defendant had driven the vehicle to a secluded spot.
