Thoracic surgeon Nikolaidis on SKAI 100.3: He described to me how difficult things are but he maintained his strength

“He suffered from a tumor that has a difficult response to chemotherapy and is relatively resistant,” Mr. Iliadis said, adding that it was a tumor that had spread into the chest.

“Having spoken a few weeks ago with Alexander, he described to me that things had been difficult but he always had the fortitude to want to try to overcome it and gave an optimism to exist, to fight it” described the director of his thoracic surgery clinic of Hygeia hospital, Kosmas Iliadis and doctor of Alexandros Nikolaidis speaking to SKAI 100.3 and Katerina Drakou.

“He suffered from a tumor that has a difficult response to chemotherapy and is relatively resistant,” Mr. Iliadis said, adding that it was a tumor that had spread into the chest.

Oncologists managed to limit the disease so that the tumor could be surgically removed, he explained, adding that Alexandros Nikolaidis subsequently underwent some treatments, however, some metastases that had already occurred contributed to the fatal outcome.

“All the way, in all the battles he fought it with the same vigour, and his mental gifts were really perhaps in greater reserve than his physical,” he commented.

Starting the treatment with the oncologists, Alexandros Nikolaidis had already started to win some battles against the cancer, which had made him optimistic.

When his clinical picture showed that something was reappearing and the situation became more difficult, he kept his composure and as it was evident from their phone conversations, he had the strength to fight it.
