A family tragedy occurred this morning on the Korinthos-Patras highway as a couple lost their lives in a car accident, at the height of Akrata.
A 73-year-old man and his 72-year-old wife are dead, while their 50-year-old daughter, who was riding in the same car, was seriously injured and taken to the hospital.
According to the police, vehicle driven by a 20-year-old in the flow of traffic towards Athens, it overturned and stopped on the road. Then, a truck driven by a 40-year-old man slowed down, due to the overturning of the first vehicle. However, a third car driven by the 73-year-old collided, under circumstances that are being investigated, with the 40-year-old’s vehicle. A car driven by a 38-year-old man followed, which collided with the 73-year-old’s vehicle.
EKAV ambulances, fire brigades and traffic police cars rushed to the scene of the accident. The firefighters freed the unconscious 73-year-old and the 72-year-old woman, while the 50-year-old woman was transported by ambulance to the hospital, according to the Athens News Agency.
Investigations into the causes of the accident are being carried out by the PATHE Corinthia highway traffic department.
