Spira stole cars from Attica and took them to Thessaloniki to transport foreigners

The gang falsified key features of the vehicles and fitted them with fake number plates

The identification of the details of five gang members, involved in vehicle thefts, led to an intensive, multi-month and ongoing investigation by police officers of the Property Crimes Department of the Thessaloniki Security Directorate.

They are Syrian nationals aged 31, 31, 32, 28 and 20 years old, who, as emerged from the police investigation, during the years 2019-2020, operating professionally, with the same or different composition each time, they removed large displacement vehicles from areas of Attica, with the purpose of illegally transporting foreigners to Greek territory.

Characteristic of their modus operandi was the transport of the vehicles to Thessaloniki, where they were falsifying their special characteristics (eg improvised windows painted with black spray) and placed fake license plates on them, in order to mislead the police authorities and avoid possible detection. They were then parked at specific points so that they were in “operational readiness”.

As part of the investigations, all the stolen vehicles were found, specifically four luxury passenger cars, which were returned to their rightful owners.

The file that was created was submitted to Mr. Protodic Prosecutor of Thessaloniki, while investigations continue to identify any other victims.
