“The damage was extensive. It is the second time in a year”, said the Deputy Mayor of Education of the Municipality of Thessaloniki

“This time the…magic is no joke. The magic is now being paid.” Speaking to Status fm and Efi Pafitou, the Deputy Mayor of Education of the Municipality of Thessaloniki emphasized this. Ioanna Kosmopoulouregarding the extensive damage recently caused to the “Euclid” school by ten people, including many students.

It is recalled that the group of young people invaded the Euclid school in Thessaloniki on October 16, causing several damages. These are ten young people, aged between 14 and 19, against whom a case file was filed by the Toumba-Triandria Police Department, for disrupting the operation of the service and damaging foreign property.

“A political will was expressed by the mayor himself to pay the damages to those who did the vandalism. We discussed it and now it remains to be investigated how exactly it will be done legally. At this moment, the losses are recorded and they are evaluated financially. This time we have something new. We have names. Arrests have been made, so we can, as long as we are given the green light by the legal company, put it into practice”, stressed Ms. Kosmopoulou.

“The damage was extensive. It’s the second time in a year. Last year in November we had incredible damage to the same building. They even took out the radiators. They had made them glasses nails. The damage amounted to 50,000 euros. This time they were less extensive but we had arrests. And this time we had an alarm installed in the building, so it helped with the arrests. And we must emphasize that of the ten arrested, most were students of the school”, Ms. Kosmopoulou concluded.
