Evia in the… “dance of… Flamingos”- Impressive photos of the rare birds on the island

The unusual sight of rare beauty is not often found on the island and the beautiful birds probably visit Evia making a stopover on their migration journey.

Impressive images continue to provide social media with the crowds of flamingos seen in Evia recently.

The frames from the Mikro & Megalo Livari – Kanatadika Istiaia wetlands, cause smiles.

Citizens who found themselves in the places where the birds of incredible beauty have “settled”, captured the beautiful sight with the flocks diving all together into the water, offering unique moments that cause admiration and awe for the beauty of nature and life.

Flamingos acquire the characteristic pink color on their wings as they grow, consuming the tiny Artemia shrimps that they seek out in the shallow waters of wetlands.

To breed, they travel to France, Spain, Turkey and other Mediterranean countries.

They often stand on one leg while the other is tucked under their body.

In addition to standing in the water, flamingos can stomp their webbed feet on the mud to bring up food on the bottom.
